Taxonomy
Bellerophon gibsoni was named by White (1882). Its type specimen is IUB 8995-434, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Greencastle, which is in a Meramecian carbonate limestone in the Ste. Genevieve Formation of Indiana.
