Taxonomy
Notostrophia was named by Waterhouse (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-l Sepkoski's reference number: 427]. Its type is Notostrophia homeri.

It was assigned to Streptorhynchinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
