Orthothrix was named by Geinitz (1847) [Sepkoski's age data: P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Strophalosiinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Dasyalosiinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
