Taxonomy
Quinquenella was named by Waterhouse (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 418]. Its type is Quinquenella glabra. It is the type genus of Quinquenellinae.

It was assigned to Quinquenellinae by Williams et al. (2000); to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Anopliidae by Shen et al. (2003).
