Taxonomy
Strophalosia scintilla was named by Beecher (1890). It is the type species of Leptalosia.

It was recombined as Etheridgina scintilla by Greger (1920); it was recombined as Leptalosia scintilla by Sutton (1938), Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960).
