Taxonomy
Scacchinella was named by Gemmellaro (1891) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-u P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is the type genus of Scacchinellinae.
It was assigned to Scacchinellidae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); to Scacchinellinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
