Sinuatella was named by Muir-Wood (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1,400]. It is not extant. Its type is Leptaena sinuata. It is the type genus of Sinuatellidae.
It was reranked as Productus (Sinuatella) by Reed (1944).
