Taxonomy
Itatamba paraima was named by Simóes et al. (1997). Its type specimen is DZP/500, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Angatuba, which is in a Capitanian lacustrine - large horizon in the Teresina Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Itatamba.
