Taxonomy
Monstrotitan monstruosa was named by Gorochov (2013). Its type specimen is PIN 3840/504, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Isady Locality (Mutovino, PIN collection 3840), which is in a Wuchiapingian lacustrine siltstone in the Poldarsa Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Monstrotitan.
