Taxonomy
Stricklandia was named by Billings (1859). It is not extant. Its type is Atrypa lens. It is the type genus of Stricklandiinae.
It was assigned to Brachiopoda by Billings (1874); to Stricklandiidae by Rubel (1977) and Villas and Cocks (1996); to Stricklandiinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002).
