Taxonomy
Ancistrorhyncha was named by Ulrich and Cooper (1942) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-u O Cara-l Sepkoski's reference number: 397]. It is not extant. Its type is Ancistrorhyncha costata. It is the type genus of Ancistrorhynchidae.

It was assigned to Brachiopoda by Mitchell and Sweet (1989); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ancistrorhynchidae by Williams et al. (2002).
