Basiliola was named by Dall (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo R Sepkoski's reference number: 1091]. It is extant. Its type is Hemithyris beecheri.
It was assigned to Rhynchonelloidea by Thomson (1908); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Basiliolinae by Cooper (1959), Craig (2000) and Williams et al. (2002).
