Taxonomy
Mesophonus pulcherrimus was named by Wills (1910). Its type specimen is SM Wills 201 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bromsgrove Quarry, which is in an Anisian pond shale in the Bromsgrove Sandstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
