Bromsgroviscorpio willsi was named by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986). Its type specimen is SM Wills 0163, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bromsgrove Quarry, which is in an Anisian pond shale in the Bromsgrove Sandstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
