Archaeobuthus estephani was named by Lourenço (2001). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Hasroun, Bcharreh Mountain (Estephan collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon. It is the type species of Archaeobuthus.
