Taxonomy
Archaeornithipus meijidei was named by Fuentes Vidarte (1996). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is SRT-3c, no. 97, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Barranco de Serrantes tracksites, which is in a Berriasian terrestrial sandstone in the Huérteles Formation of Spain.
