Taxonomy
Brandtocetus chongulek was named by Goldin and Startsev (2014). Its type specimen is TNU Skull A, a partial skull (partial skull with periotic bones and partly preserved tympanic bullae, lacking rostrum), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kostyrino, west of, which is in a Sarmatian marginal marine siltstone in the Chersonian Formation of Ukraine.
