Taxonomy
Palaeophoyx columbiana was named by McCoy (1963). Its type specimen is UF/PB 32, a limb element (coracoid), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ichetucknee River, which is in the Pleistocene of horizon Florida. It is the type species of Palaeophoyx.
