Taxonomy
Helicotoma tamurai was named by Kobayashi (1930). It is not extant. Its type locality is Taisei-ri Bantatsu-men Koto Prefecture South Heian-do, which is in a Darriwilian carbonate limestone in the Unkaku Formation of North Korea.
It was recombined as Scalites tamurai by Wagner (2023).
