Taxonomy
Delthyris was named by Dalman (1828). It is not extant. Its type is Delthyris elevata.

It was reranked as Spirifer (Delthyris) by Khodalevich (1951).

It was assigned to Spirifer by Khodalevich (1951); to Spiriferacea by Kirk and Amsden (1952); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Delthyridinae by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Williams et al. (2006).
