Taxonomy
Salenia tumidula was named by Clark (1801). Its type specimen is ANSP 1448, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Timber Creek - Vincentown Fm, which is in a Paleocene coastal sandstone in the Vincentown Formation of New Jersey.
