Euphoberia robusta was named by Baldwin (1911). Its type specimen is MM L9943 and is an impression. Its type locality is Sparth Bottoms, Rochdale (MM coll), which is in a Westphalian A delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Palaeosoma robustum by Jackson et al. (1919), Hannibal and Krzemiński (2005).
