Taxonomy
Scolopocryptops simojovelensis was named by Edgecombe et al. (2012). Its type specimen is AMNH Ch-SH7 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Mexican amber (AMNH Coll), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
