Taxonomy
Anthracodesmus macconochiei was named by Peach (1899). Its type specimen is BGS 2176 and is an impression. Its type locality is Lennel Braes, River Tweed, Coldstream (BGS collection), which is in a Tournaisian terrestrial shale in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Anthracodesmus.
