Taxonomy
Hastocularis argus was named by Garwood et al. (2014). Its type specimen is MNHN-SOT 093493, an exoskeleton, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Montceau-les-Mines (Sotty MNHN/MHNA coll), which is in a Stephanian B deltaic mudstone in France. It is the type species of Hastocularis.
