Taxonomy
Tomiopsis piersoni was named by Cisterna and Shi (2014). Its type specimen is NMV P309931, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is GRS11d, Wasp Head, which is in a Sakmarian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Wasp Head Formation of Australia.
