Siamodon nimngami

Taxonomy
Siamodon nimngami was named by Buffetaut and Suteethorn (2011). Its type specimen is PRC-4, a maxilla (a nearly complete left maxilla bearing several teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ban Saphan Hin, which is in an Aptian terrestrial conglomerate in the Khok Kruat Formation of Thailand.

Suteethorn 2011An advanced iguanodontian showing a combination of plesiomorphic and apomorphic features, as follows: maxilla shaped like an isosceles triangle, with the dorsal process located at about mid-length of the bone; tab-like jugal process; strong longitudinal bulge on the medial surface of the maxilla; at least 25 maxillary teeth, which bear a prominent median primary ridge, one short weak subsidiary ridge or no subsidiary ridge at all, and mamillated denticles on the crown margins
