Neophiomys paraphiomyoides
Taxonomy
Phiomys paraphiomyoides was named by Wood (1968). Its type specimen is CGM 26904, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry G (Jebel Qatrani Formation) (= "upper sequence"), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
It was recombined as Neophiomys paraphiomyoides by Coster et al. (2012) and Marivaux et al. (2017).
