Taxonomy
Robustichthys luopingensis was named by Xu et al. (2014). Its type specimen is IVPP V18568, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Luoping biota (IVPP collection), which is in a Pelsonian carbonate lime mudstone in the Guanling Formation of China.
