Taxonomy
Basilicus jinlini was named by Zhou and Fortey (1986). Its type specimen is NI80433, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Location 4 Horizon 10, which is in a Llanvirn marine limestone in the Machiakou Formation of China.
