Lytoceras (Gaudryceras) politissimum was named by Kossmat (1895).

It was recombined as Gaudryceras politissimum by Marshall (1926); it was recombined as Anagaudryceras politissimum by Kennedy and Klinger (1979), Henderson and McNamara (1985), Ward and Kennedy (1993), Kennedy (1999), Klinger et al. (2001), Salazar et al. (2010).
