Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
A. O. Averianov et al. 2014 | Referred toDryolestidae by lower molars showing unilateral hypsodonty and small and labially placed distal root, by having a pronounced precingulid instead of cusp f on lower molars, and unequal alveolar borders of the dentary mandibular ramus. Differs from all other, more derived members of Dryolestidae by plesiomorphic retention of mesiodistally relatively uncompressed lower molars (L/W ratio greater than 1.1), transverse protocristid, short mandibular symphysis, terminating at the lower canine, and a very shallow mandibular ramus of the dentary. Two homoplasies are autapomorphic for the new taxon: uppercase lambda-shaped paracristid-protocristid in occlusal view (reversal) and Meckelian groove parallel to the ventral border of the dentary (parallelism with stem zatherians). Differs from Amblotherium by a paraconid that has half the size of the metaconid. Differs from all Dryolestidae except Amblotherium and Crusafontia by a pointed metaconid. Differs from Amblotherium and Crusafontia by the lack of a labial cingulid at the lower molars. Differs from Achyrodon and Phascolestes by a postcingulid that extends between the talonid and the base of the protoconid. Differs from Crusafontia, Achyrodon, and Phascolestes by an anterior border of the coronoid process that is not vertical. |
