Terebratula cor was named by Lamarck (1819).

It was recombined as Zeilleria cor by Dulai (2003); it was recombined as Zeilleria (Cincta) cor by Alméras and Fauré (2007); it was recombined as Cincta cor by Paredes et al. (2013).
