Taxonomy
Leptaena scissa was named by Davidson (1871).

It was recombined as Plectambonites scissa by Reed (1917); it was recombined as Leangella scissa by Cocks (1970), Temple (1987), Modzalevskaya and Popov (1995); it was recombined as Leangella (Leangella) scissa by Cocks (2005), Rubel (2011).
