Ectyphoria was named by Cooper (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath-u J Call-l Sepkoski's reference number: 877]. It is not extant. Its type is Ectyphoria inflata.
It was synonymized subjectively with Arabatia by Alméras et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Loboidothyridinae by Williams et al. (2006), Feldman et al. (2021).
