Eucalathis was named by Fischer and Oehlert (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R Sepkoski's reference number: 1. COMMENTS: Now reported from the Eocene (Cooper 1988) and Late Cretaceous (Kaim et al. 2010).]. It is extant. Its type is Terebratulina murrayi. It is the type genus of Eucalathinae.
It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eucalathinae by Cooper (1973), Williams et al. (2006), Dulai (2010) and Kaim et al. (2010).
