Taxonomy
Berycidarum balticus was named by Roedel (1930). Its type specimen is PMHUB (no number), an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Protargentinolithus.
It was recombined as Protargentinolithus balticus by Schwarzhans (2003).
