Eudesia was named by King (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo-u K Barr Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538]. It is the type genus of Eudesiidae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eudesiidae by Williams et al. (2006).
