Taxonomy
Ferrythyris was named by Alméras (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: J Toar-l J Bath-l Sepkoski's reference number: 872]. It is not extant. Its type is Terebratula ferryi.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Postepithyrididae by Williams et al. (2006).
