Taxonomy
Arcoscalpellum knapptonensis was named by Zullo (1982). Its type specimen is LACMIP 6270, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP 5844 - Knappton [Lincoln Creek Fm], which is in a Chattian deep-water limestone in the Lincoln Creek Formation of Washington.

Zullo 1982 | Broad, slightly bowed carina with arched tectum, faintly ridged parietes, and very narrow, inwardly turned intra-parietes broad trapezoidal longitudinally striate scutum with low flat apico-basal ridge an decidedly obtuse basitergal angle; tergum subtriangular, longitudinally striate, twice as long as wide, with acute apico-basal ridge and without marked distinction between upper and lower carinal margins. Distinguished from A. gassinensis and A. habanense by its narrower carina without conspicuous ridges on or bordering the tectum; from A. sanchezi and A. euglyphum by its carinal parietes that do not flare outwardly; from A. choctawensis and A. toulmini by its much broader tergum and thicker capitular plates. |
