Taxonomy
Thompsonia was named by Kossmann (1873). It is extant. Its type is Thompsonia globosa. It is the type genus of Thompsoniidae.
It was assigned to Akentrogonida by Newman et al. (1969); and to Thompsoniidae by Chan et al. (2021).
