Taxonomy
Prochlidonophora was named by Thomson and Owen (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: K Nc K Apti Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. It is not extant. Its type is Prochlidonophora muirwoodae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chlidonophorinae by Williams et al. (2006).
