Taxonomy
Julus antiquus was named by Bertkau (1878). It is the type species of Bertkaupolypus, Pseudoiulus.
It was recombined as Pseudoiulus antiquus by Verhoeff (1897); it was recombined as Bertkaupolypus antiquus by Hoffman (1969).
