Holorhynchus giganteus latisulcifer was named by Rukavishnikova and Sapelnikov (1973) [= 1955 Holorhynchus cf. giganteus Kiaer; Borissiak: 44, pl. 4, figs 1, 2. = 1975 Holorhynchus giganteus giganteus Kiaer; Sapelnikov & Rukavishnikova: pl. 7, figs 1, 2.]. Its type specimen is IGNA 15/2010 (ventral valve) and is a 3D body fossil.
