Krithidae was named by Mandelstam (1958). It is extant.

It was assigned to Cytheracea by Hazel and Holden (1971), Ayress (1995); to Cytherideoidea by Liebau (2005), Bergue and Govindan (2010); and to Cytheroidea by Yamaguchi et al. (2016).
