Cetorhinus parvus was named by Leriche (1908).

It was recombined as Keasius parvus by Welton (2013), Reinecke and Radwanski (2015), Cappetta et al. (2016), Přikryl et al. (2016), Kovalchuk and Barkaszi (2021).
