Taxonomy
Chariocrinus japonicus was named by Hunter et al. (2011). Its type specimen is UMUT-ME 30336, a stem, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mitarai, Shokawa [Mitarai Fm], which is in a Berriasian offshore shale in the Mitarai Formation of Japan.
