Zellania was named by Moore (1855) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); to Gwynioidea by Williams et al. (2006); and to Albasphinae by Halamski et al. (2015).
