Dinocystis was named by Bather (1898) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Edrioasteridae by Regnéll (1966); to Agelacrinitidae by Sumrall (1996); and to Isorophida by Sepkoski (2002).
