Taxonomy
Pyrocystites desideratus was named by Barrande (1887). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Osek, which is in a Sarka offshore shale in the Sarka Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Archegocystis desiderata by Jaekel (1899) and Prokop (1964); it was recombined as Archegocystis desideratus by Bockelie (1984).
